Who am I ?

Growing up close to the local art cinema gave me a passion for the art at a young age. I got my first camera and started learning photography and videography in my teens. I turned those skills into a dedicated reflection when I went to college. Meanwhile I directed several projects of all sorts, mostly around music with the bands The Drafts and Berling Berlin.

What do I do ?

My main artistic purpose is "chasing the real", I like to have musicians in front of my camera and try to translate their raw energy in my music videos and photos. That is why I film most of my work handheld and use the sequence-shot very often.

Editing is another important part of my creative process, it helps me enhance what I felt while shooting to show it to the viewer. As an artist who grew up in a digital world, I try to pay tribute to the silent films directors, their goals and simple tools. To do so I rely a lot on surimpression (layering, fades...), a personal editing trademark inspired by impressionist directors such as Jean Epstein and Abel Gance.

That doesn't keep me away from more contemporary techniques like chroma keying. I like to layer images, let effects pile up awkwardly to let the moving pictures speak freely (it's a "song of images" to quote Georges Mourier).

In general, as a musician myself, I seek the musicality of life in the works of others and try to convey that in my craft. Ideally, I want the viewer to feel the glue that binds my images. In a art world dominated by 0s and 1s, I try to make my digital work as unique and alive as possible.
